Tried and True Running Gear
All you need and more…
Spending the greater part of my running years while living in Michigan, I have quickly learned to become an “all season” runner. This means lots and lots of running gear for a variety of temps and weather situations. With that said, one of my most beloved pieces of running equipment is my treadmill. While super long runs can feel rather grueling on the tread, it has offered a solution when running outside is simply not possible. This could be either weather related (when ice or temps simply will not allow for training outdoors) or parenting related (when you don’t have the option to be away from the house for any extended period of time).
While I inspire someday to upgrade to a fancy Peloton tread, my older NordicTrack has been a workhorse and works too well to retire her at this point. It does look like the new versions have a much fancier screen set up than mine, but my propped up cell phone has sufficed for runs as long as 16-17 miles on this beauty.
Either way, if you can swing it, a treadmill is a fantastic investment and primary piece of gear for any runner.
Find my Favorite Products
I’ve added all of my favorites to my Amazon storefront for ease but here are some of my favorite running essentials.
Day to Day Gear
Noxgear Tracer2
An everyday essential- Rechargeable and lasts for about a week. A necessity for those early morning or evening runs. Super light as well.
Head Lamp
This headlamp is an absolute workhorse. I love that as the charge reduces it slowly dims (other lights go out completely) and does not leave you in the dark
Running Belts
I have 2 running belts I use depending on the type of run and how much I need to carry. The fitletic belt allows me to carry gels with ease for longer runs, and is my go to for any type of Marathon or Half Marathon. The SPI belt is a fantastic option for everyday runs and easily allows you to store a phone and key no problem.
Garmin Watch
I have been a Garmin fanatic for quite a few years. I LOVE the Forerunner series, and cannot see myself changing anytime soon. The ease of use and features are unparalleled and there is not a day I would go without it. I’ve had the 645 series and currently wear the 745 #rideordie
Megababe
I have fallen victim to “the Chafe” more times than I like to admit. Ode- to the dreaded after run shower where you find places you did not realize you chafed (IYKYK). I’ve tried quite a few product, but this one seems to be the best so far. I love how smooth it goes on and actually feels moisturizing🤷♀️.
Shokz
The GOAT headphone for running. I literally have 3 pairs and will wear NOTHING else. You can hear your surroundings (birds, cars, people) and your music! Queue the angles singing & sky parting. Nothing more to say besides you NEED these in your life.
Clothing Favorites
RAINIER TIGHT
By far my favorite cold weather tight. The perfect weight to keep you warm in up to single digit temps, but will not weigh you down. I have them in every color.
Inlet Jacket/Vest
Another cold weather favorite! fantastic fit, detachable hood and washes oh so nicely. I have both the jacket and vest in this line.
Zensah Socks
The crew running socks are some of my favorites. They provide just the right level of cushion without being too thick, wick sweat and provide compression. So many fun options available. All of their compression products are incredible.
Wolaco Shorts
An all around fantastic short for the sweatiest of summer runs. The waistband sits perfectly, they do not roll up or down and they have pockets galore.
Train Free Bra
I own this bra in many colors and find myself automatically going for these- especially on long run. Admittedly, I personally am not endowed enough where support is a major issue, but I feel incredibly secure in this gem .
Asics Shoes
While I’ve tried MANY brands of shoes, my current crush at the moment is on Asics. I’m loving the Novablasts- I’ve had multiple of the 2’s and 3’s and the Superblast (I know they are pricey- but I got well over 500 miles on them and they’re still going.
