• Last 90 days challange

Fall is in the air and I cannot believe that we have officially entered the autumn season.  I hesitated to talk about this because we are already 2 weeks into October- but I think it’s definitely important enough and I’m gonna lean on the better late than never philosophy…..

I don’t know about you, but I’m determined to end the year on a high note and ready to take on fresh new goals in 2025.  With that said, I want to highlight Rachel Hollis’s “Last 90 Day Challenge”.  This is a fantastic way to build some great habits that will take you into the new year and help you chase down any of your big dreams ahead.

The primary goal with this challenge is to treat the last 90 days of the year, with just as much gusto as we would the first 30 days.  I know I am personally guilty of treating the last bit of the year like a downhill slide because, “it’s the holidays” and the promise of January and fresh starts are hovering near.  I tend to slack on workouts and self-care, eat too many treats and overall not feel like the best version of myself.

By shifting our mindset from a downhill approach and closing out the year to viewing it more as a ramp up, we can kick off the new year strong a ready to crush our 2025 goals on day 1.

In a nutshell, the challenge is about doing 5 things for the remainder of the year.  I’ve adapted the list below to make it very general in nature, so it’s approachable for everyone.  These are not designed to be rigid, but to give a framework for you to design a personal challenge plan that will help you end the year proud, refreshed, and ready to take on new and bigger 2025 goals.

    1.      Carve out an hour for yourself each day

This could mean something different for every single person. Maybe you’re an early bird who could wake up an hour earlier, or possibly a night owl, who can take a time out after all the nightly family obligations are complete?  The important thing here is to set aside time for yourself to do whatever it is that lights you up or gives back to yourself in a great way.  Maybe you exercise, journal, mediate, read a book, garden, craft etc.…

    2.      Workout For At Least 30 Minutes

While this might seem overwhelming as a daily practice, it important to remember that any movement is great movement.  There are a ton of simple at home workout options, or minimally you can go for a walk.

    3.      Hydrate

Make a point to drink enough water.  Let’s face it, the busier we get the less time we think about stopping to get in our water.  I know this is especially hard during the winter months as well, when water is not always the most desirable option (give me all the warm beverages). Possibly treat yourself to a new water bottle, and let’s keep refilling it!

    4.      Give Up or Add One Food Category

Again, this can be tailored for everyone, but we all know something that we would be best served to either forego or add to our daily routines.  Maybe you tend to fall short in the Veggie department?  Plan to add a different vegetable to each of your meals.  Do you have an insatiable sweet tooth?   Try swapping your nightly treat for fruit or a yogurt instead.

    5.      Be Grateful

Start a gratitude practice.  This does not have to be anything fancy or formal, but taking the time to truly be grateful for all that we have is such a rewarding practice and can shift your attitude and mindset almost instantly.  Maybe start with one thing and work your way up to each day.  Bonus points for putting pen to paper on this practice.

And just some fall running pics☺️
